Workshops

We’re excited to be hosting Morales Method® at The Old Medicine Thai Massage School Shivagakomarapaj. Morales Method® is a continuing education school for bodyworkers based in San Francisco, CA and they will be teaching two seperate workshops at our school in November 2025! Workshop Offerings:

  • Deep Tissue Bodywork (November 7, 8, and 9, 2025) Friday-Sunday, 9am-6pm

  • Manual Therapy Techniques for Cervical & Lumbar Pain (November 15-16, 2025) Saturday-Sunday, 9am-6pm

Deep Tissue Bodywork

  • 8 hours per day for 3 Days (9am-6pm)

Course Description: This three-day class is exclusively designed to help physical therapists and massage therapists gain valuable Deep Tissue manual therapy skills that they can integrate into their existing modalities while utilizing proper body mechanics. This course focuses on a palpation centric approach to Deep Tissue that increases the efficiency and efficacy of the work.

Students will learn to work deeply, effectively, and safely on all areas of the body from head to toe with a myriad of different tools from soft fists to the ulnar ridge. While learning techniques students will also receive feedback on their body mechanics to learn how to safely and effectively create deep force when working with their clients. 

Suggested Program Prerequisite: 40-minute FREE Morales Method® Concepts of Palpation Online Course

Program Learning Objectives:

  1. Students will learn how to apply the Morales Method® Concepts of Palpation to target their tissue work to the unique needs of each client

  2. Students will learn the spinal mechanics of the cervical and lumbar vertebra to assess and address vertebral rotations

  3. Students will learn soft tissue techniques to address pain in the low back and neck

Course Description: This two-day class will focus on specific manual therapy techniques to address two common areas we see as manual therapists, the neck and low back. Students will learn how to track down and address dysfunction in these territories using assessment and manual therapy of the soft tissue.

We’ll discuss spinal mechanics and explore how to apply this knowledge of vertebral movement to our tissue work. Students will learn how to work the tissue attaching to the spinous processes (and other parts of the vertebrae) along with gentle movements to bring about de-rotation of rotated vertebra. This advanced material can be easily integrated into your existing practice whether its as a massage therapist, a physical therapist, an athletic trainer or any other kind of manual therapist.

Meet Your Instructor

Marty Morales, Certified Advanced Rolfer®, MBA

Marty is a NCBTMB (451212-10) approved continuing education provider. He is the creator of the Morales Method® Academy of Structural Integration and an author of several books including: Deep Tissue Bodywork- A New Approach to a Classic ModalityMastering Body Mechanics, 2nd Ed, and Morales Method® Core Integration Therapy. Marty has been teaching since 2006 and has held classes in California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Florida, Japan, Switzerland, Poland, and Taiwan. 

His private practice in San Francisco, CA has been running since 2003 with over 10,000 hours logged in session. Before beginning his training as a massage therapist in 2002, Marty received an MBA in Finance from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles. Marty is passionate about bodywork and continuing education and loves the classroom environment where he gets to share his experience and knowledge from over two decades in the field!

FAQs

  • There will be no refunds within three weeks of the scheduled workshop, only credit toward future workshops.

    If cancelled before the three-week window prior to the class, a $100 cancellation fee will be applied. Processing of a participant’s refund will occur within 7-10 business days from the day the request is received.

  • Because we're holding the course at a massage school, you will not need to bring a table. The school will provide massage tables for our use.

    You will need to bring:

    • A tank top or sports bra to wear when receiving the work

    • Sheets for your table (1 fitted sheet and a face cradle cover or pillowcase)

    • Water (and snacks for yourself, if necessary)

    • Lunch money or bagged lunch (the school is located in a shopping center with restaurants where you can eat lunch)

  • These workshops are approved for CEU by NCBTMB and the Florida Board of Massage Therapy for the following hours:​

    • Deep Tissue Bodywork (24.0 CEUs)

    • Manual Therapy Techniques for Cervical & Lumbar Pain (16.0 CEUs)

    We cannot offer partial credit if you're late. You'll receive a digital certificate of completion at the end of the course that you can submit to your state board for credit. We submit hours to CE Broker for FL State Licensed Massage Therapists, but we will need your FL License number to submit the hours. 

  • No. We cannot issue a certificate of completion for the workshop unless you're on time and are present for the full day. For example, we cannot offer 4 hours of credit if you can only attend for four hours. 

  • You can fly into​ Chiang Mai International Airport, which is just over a mile away from the venue!
